Drakes Cycles was first opened by Maurice Drake in 1951, selling both cycles and mopeds in the early days. Maurices son John would later take over the business in 1964 and in 1967 the mopeds were discarded to fully concentrate on cycles only. As the cycle trade got busier and busier throughout the 70s, Drakes recruited mechanic Graham in 1978, who later became shop manager and is still with us today.
